We are Fidget Space. We are looking for a motivated individual to join us at our space located in a familial plaza in Pickering. In this developing role, you will be able to wear many hats, and will have exposure to all levels of the organization. These roles as Interns, you will be a strong team asset and will be involved in some of the highest levels of company decision making!

So you like using your creativity to create striking print and online materials – and you’re pretty darn good at it too!

The Graphic Design Intern assists in the delivery of attractive designs. Responsibilities include assisting with project planning, content creation and content development. Interns have the opportunity to work responsibly within a structured environment, while pushing their creativity and making valuable contacts.

Responsibilities

The Graphic Designer…

  • Create graphic design, production and printing materials to ensure the branding consistency is achieved.
  • Support the marketing team to create and manage designs from concept through to final deliverables, including mock-ups, visual presentations, etc.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop branding materials, new design concepts, graphics and layouts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment on multiple projects.

Qualifications and Education

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Excellent design sensibility: understanding of typography, hierarchy, composition, colour
  • Excellent organization skills. Must maintain a smooth workflow while dealing with a high volume, fast-paced work environment
  • Adept in the use of MS Office for Mac including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Energetic self-starter who can take visual concepts prepared by Marketing Manager and adapt them across platforms
  • Familiarity using social media
  • Superior written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with WordPress an asset

So you like hosting parties, socials that are memorable – and you’re brainstorming already as you read this! 

Frankly, the Event Planning Intern gets to be involved in the event marketing process from Step 1 to Completion.

The Special Events Coordinator assists in the delivery of professional, informative and exciting social event opportunities. Responsibilities include assisting with program development, sponsor acquisition, and ticket sales. Interns have the opportunity to work responsibly within a structured environment, while pushing their creativity and making valuable contacts.

Responsibilities
The Special Events Coordinator…

  • partners with levels of management and the Marketing Team to develop a comprehensive and effective event campaign
  • Provides knowledge about industry best practices, developed professionally or through schooling
  • Can communicate effectively (telephone, emails, etc.) with all levels of the event, from attendee to administration
  • Understands and is capable of maintaining a comprehensive agenda, registration list, and record of communications
  • Accountability for maintaining ticket availability
  • Responsible for MailChimp mail outs and attendee communication
  • Provides input to administrative team members to assist in decision making
  • Ability to prioritize personal workload to maximize productivity as well as adjust to requests from team members.

Qualifications and Education

  • Applicants should be in a relevant post-secondary program
  • Relevant workplace experience an incentive, but not mandatory
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel – will provide training as needed
  • Experience with the following platforms recommended: MailChimp, EventBrite, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat 
  • Strong Customer Service Skills
  • Team Player – able to interact with Team Fidget Space.
  • Ability to multi task and adapt to changes
  • Must show initiative and resourcefulness
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to work on multiple projects and deadlines

We look for candidates that have displayed academic success while balancing extracurricular activities. A strong skill-set in business development, strategy and operations.

Responsibilities
Community Outreach Coordinator…

  • partners with levels of management, the Marketing and the Special Events Team to develop a comprehensive and effective social media material and event plans. 
  • Provides knowledge about industry best practices, developed professionally or through schooling
  • Can communicate effectively (telephone, emails, etc.) with all levels of the event, from attendee to administration
  • Understands and is capable of maintaining a comprehensive agenda, registration list, and record of communications
  • Accountability for maintaining and sharing ticket availability
  • Responsible for MailChimp mail outs to local communities to recruite Team of Volunteers. 
  • Responsible for MailChimp mail outs to local communities: Snapd, Eventbrite, Website Calendar  
  • Provides input to administrative team members to assist in decision making
  • Ability to prioritize personal workload to maximize productivity as well as adjust to requests from team members.

Qualifications and Education

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Driven and always ready to engage with people
  • Relevant workplace experience an incentive, but not mandatory
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel – will provide training as needed
  • Experience with the following platforms recommended: MailChimp, EventBrite, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, HootSuite, Adobe Suite, Periscope 
  • Strong Customer Service Skills
  • Team Player – able to interact with Team Fidget Space.
  • Ability to multi task and adapt to changes
  • Must show initiative and resourcefulness
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to work on multiple projects and deadlines
